Submitting Releases
Attitude 'n Facts
Only true free/indie releases - if you are caught in the tight grip of the *biz/royalty/copyright* structures for one or the other reason, I can't (and don't want to) play the release, this is mainly aimed at any major biz related releases. My shows are 100% *major free* - their policy destroys the culture 'n I'm working for the oposite. I'm also only accepting very few of so called *radio promo compilations* - too often money is made with the needs of indie artists which is the total oposite to my indie ethics.(more info on this?)
My shows try to present the variety of today's true indie scene with emphasis on the *quality* aspect. I accept home burned CDs but they need to have an aestetical presentation (cover, label, easy to find e-mail address!!! etc.) - no MP3s are accepted. You may add some info 'n pix but basicly I don't need glossy promo presentations .. if you send them .. fine.
I'm accepting all styles/genres - from VERY traditional/radio friendly (etc.) to VERY unconventional/harsh. Also accepting *low-fi* releases if the music/sound is really convincing within this *concept*.
The shows try to raise an interest in this new worldwide *attitude* of true indie producing and releasing. The emphasis is on music that is'nt too *shocking* - I personally like to listen to VERY extreme music but from my experience I know that the *usual listener* has big problems with extreme music/sounds, so I present unusual material but not THAT often. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain here.
The *personal* aspect. I see all this as a new worldwide culture. If I - after sending playlists etc.- never ever hear from you again, I've to think it's only a *promo thing* to you .. this means I'm not interested in another release. We don't have to exchange endless letters .. I can't do that ... drowning in releases/requests/mail .. but this *extra human touch* is definitely part of *the new TRUE indie-music-scene*!
The *quality* of the music. I now only play music that really *works* - a good unique *concept*. Some things just don't work for me - certain sterile rhythm machines in acoustic / traditional orrientated music, grooves that don't move (one or the other way) in electronic music, a mix that burries everything, certain kind of cliche lyrics etc. .. I don't present "well, not bad" recordings anymore. I only present music that really hits me - only THE VERY BEST of TRUE INDIE MUSIC. There is no way to convince me to play material that does'nt work for me.
It may take some time 'till I can put your music on air - I receive heaps of releases. If you never again hear from me, the music did'nt work for me - don't forget the music just did'nt work for me, this is no general statement - try somewhere else! If I present your music you'll get playlists via e-mail before the shows are broadcasted/webcasted.
Quick Info
1. accepted formats: I'm sorry but only CDs - all other formats are very difficult to handle now that I receive heaps of releases every day.
2. No demos, MP3s, radio promo compilations etc. - all releases must have some kind of aesthecial presentation.
3. Any kind of sound / music / style / genre is accepted as long as the artists is truly independent.
4. This sure includes cooperations with small record companies and true indie-promoters.
5. No material with any kind of major-records cooperation involved is accepted.
6. Send one copy of your release - I can't *spread/distribute* - also: packages with several CDs often are delivered to the customs - then I have to go there 'n pay .. and I DON'T do this anymore.
7. Don't include heaps of info/reviews/pictures etc. just a bit to give an idea.
8. Put your address etc. on EVERY item you send...means I'm no longer searching for e-mail addresses etc. - you don't have to glue something on the CD if the address is on the cover..hope you know what I mean.
9. If we never ever hear from you again after sending response/statement/playlist etc., we're basicly not interested in a second
release.
