THEY even stole the expression "Independent / alternative"! If I listen or view any official show that claims to present "independent / alternative" music I'm torn between laughing and crying - just another label to sell something.
Here is the REAL way: the 80's brought the technical revolution, priceworthy high class recording equipement, home/small studios/labels - the industry did'nt own the tools anymore.
The 90's brought the worldwide distribution tool: the internet - "from your living room to the whole world" - the industry did'nt own the network anymore.
The new millenium: an unbeliveable variety of high class individual orrientated artists work 'n release worldwide - too indivdiual to be exploited by the industry, they need formulars, the new culture offers music. The industry does'nt own the music anymore ..
All genres - all styles - all ages - all countries - all languagges: got the picture? .. to present this worldwide new culture is the main aim of Lord Litter's radiowork.

OUTLAW FOR PEACE (OFP), a original indie-concept alive and well - Lord Litter's OUTLAW FOR PEACE Radioshow (used by permission).
I never was really happy with the expression Roots - just too specific for what I do. The OFP show concentrates on *handmade / emotional* music but the spectrum of the presented artists is bigger. So the show is open to all kind of styles if done in a very basic-roots style. Don't forget, genres like Hip-Hop have very heartfelt true roots basics, now totally ignored by the plastic dominated mass media.
Excerpt from the original OFP info (early 90s): "Willie Nelson and Friend's Outlaw for Peace , the international radio show series, regularly invites artists, independent producers, benefit concert promoters, and organisations to sumbit demo radio shows for broadcast worldwide. Experimental radio formats and styles, music, drama, and comedy are all considered for broadcast by Outlaw for Peace. Outlaw for Peace is a new multi-media approach to grass roots networking and marketing. By using alternative media such as shortwave radio (...) we are able to not just 'preach to the choir', but instead reach new audiences. 'We are a global cottage guerilla marketing experiment for art and philosophy'."
.. now that's ten years ago .. the internet with radiostations, shops, info-sites (and much more) became a driving force in today's new true indie-level worldwide...finally a true alternative is alive.
